Suspension Setup
Shock absorbers help to control the movement of your vehicle’s springs, tyres, and suspension assembly. Shock absorbers play an important role in your vehicle’s ability to corner, travel, accelerate and brake safely by keeping your tyres in contact with the road at all times.
If your shock absorbers are past their use by date, this can result in the tyre losing contact with the ground, which in turn severely limits your ability to drive, steer and brake the car in a safe manner.
It is recommended by Monroe and other leading automotive experts recommend that you have a trained specialist inspect your shock absorbers for signs of wear every 20,000 km.
Signs of worn or failing shock absorbers:
Stopping distances can increase by 20%, which can be fatal in an accident and requires immediate attention.
Uneven tyre wear: If your tyres are wearing in an unusual or uneven way, chances are, its your shock absorbers.
Nose diving or doesn’t ride the bumps like it should: If the bonnet of your car dips when you brakes or pulls one way. Or your car doesn’t ride the bumps or hug the road when corning. This is another sign that you need to replace your shock absorbers.
Does your car move around in the wind? If so, this could be experiencing the signs of worn shock absorbers.
